INVEST IN LATINO YOUTH & OUR COLLECTIVE FUTURE

30% of Utahns under 18 identified as a racial or ethnic minority in 2020, an increase of 24% since 2010 (2020 U.S. Census). Latino youth contribute a significant proportion of this age group at 40.1%, the largest share of any other group.

However, our students experience lower graduation rates and barriers to upward mobility that limit their opportunity and potential (Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, Utah Office of Health Equity).

The United States is a rapidly aging [and changing] nation. Investments made today on [Latino] children and youth that support and ensure equal opportunity to education and economic security will be foundational for shaping its future economic growth and health.
